The Swanage Railway
Anyone who was a child in the 50s or earlier will remember the nostalgic sounds and smells of steam locomotives, but those lucky to be younger can still enjoy the experience on this heritage railway in East Dorset. A full timetable of diesel and steam trains runs on a 6-mile track from Norden to Swanage, past the spectacular ruins of Corfe Castle.
As well as the regular journeys, there are various specials laid on, with daytime and evening luxury dining, drive a train experiences or seasonal trips like the Santa Express. You can also travel from Dorchester, Salisbury or Yeovil on a scheduled train and connect with the steam trains to Corfe Castle on summer Saturdays
