Salt Pig Too, Swanage

Specialising in local high-welfare meat (all from an 8-mile radius), this café has a daily changing menu featuring the best of local produce from the Isle of Purbeck. James Warren (a Food & Farming Hero) keeps rare breed Berkshire and curly-coated Mangalitsa pigs in idyllic heathland and woodland surroundings, and pork naturally features on the menu, with home-produced sausages and bacon, as well as rare breed beef and fresh seafood from Kimmeridge. There’s a limited vegetarian choice, but this is primarily a venue for carnivores!
The café has a laid-back ambience, and the site also houses a butcher, fishmonger and local produce shop, so you can have a delicious reminder of your meal, or a takeaway pie and mash.

Open 7:30am – 7pm (Monday and Tuesday), 7:30am – 11pm (Wednesday to Sunday). Sample menus at http://www.thesaltpig.co.uk, or call 01929 423616 to book.
