The first established of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s three canteens, this is a relaxed and informal place to meet and eat. Set in the town square next to the Minster, the kitchen serves inventive and seasonal recipes using the best local produce in imaginative ways. Good ingredients, responsibly sourced and perfectly cooked are the order of the day.
It’s a popular place to meet, with plenty of tables and a lively atmosphere. Although Hugh is an enthusiastic supporter of welfare-friendly meat and sustainable fishing, vegetarians and vegans will find they are also well-catered for.
